Clifton Park Museum is housed within a fine
Grade II listed building designed by the
renowned architect, John Carr.
The building was extended in the 1970s and the
£1.6m project for Rotherham Metropolitan Borough
Council has involved comprehensive repair and
redecoration of the original house and
remodelling of the extension.
The 'courtyard' to the latter has been re-roofed
with a lantern light allowing controlled natural
light into the heart of the building, creating a
multi-functional display and lecture facility.
Following completion of the construction of
CPMG's design, the displays were fitted-out and
the facility reopened to the public in Autumn
2004.
